Here's What's Happening...

ELA: We are doing great at the start of our new unit: Nature's Fury. In stations we will be covering: hurricanes, tropical cyclones, and tornadoes, practice skills of sequencing, inferring, as well as word work list 5 words. For writer's workshop, we will take a look at our informational writing on Natural Disasters through the lens of a scientist and a geographer. We will practice note-taking, asking questions, noticing patterns, and reflect upon the information we gathered in our writing. At the end of the week, we will cover map features to help us include geographical facts in our informative. 


Social Science: We will finish up Chapter 15, Lesson 3: Heat energy and how it is transferred. We will have a quick study taken for a participation grade, and the next lesson's quick study will be taken for a grade as well. 

Ms. Gari's Math Class: We will continue our work in Unit 2 Module 3. We are going to review concepts such as adding and subtracting fractions, comparing fractions, using ratio tables to figure out which deal is the "better buy", and multiplying fractions by a whole number. We will take our last checkpoint of the unit on Tuesday, complete and go over a study guide on Wednesday, play a review Jeopardy game on Thursday to end our Unit 2 on Friday! The following week we will begin with a Unit 3 pre-test.
