February 12- February 16

Here's What's Happening...

ELA: We are continuing Writer's Workshop this week focusing on our inferencing skills and how we write to think. We will start the week with one-on-one conferences to make sure that we are fact-checking and writing with a lens of science. Towards the end of the week, we will start stations where we will take a look at a map of the United States-specifically Tornado Alley and make inferences about the geography of this region, and how it affected the events that unfolded. We will also continue working with Hurricane vocabulary, Word Work List 5, and in teacher station, we will work on sequencing events moving into the concept of cause and effect.

Social Science: We are almost done with Chapter 15! Due to our snow day, we were unable to finish up Chapter 15 Ls 4- Renewable and Nonrenewable energy. We will finish up lesson 4 and review the whole chapter. We will take our test the following week.

Ms. Gari's Math Class: Ms. Donar and I are looking forward to seeing everyone Monday and Tuesday night! Due to our snow day on Friday, the Unit 2 test is being pushed back to Monday. We will then take the Unit 3 pre-test and begin with our first Module! Unit 3 focuses on decimals. Students will focus on place value, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and comparing decimals. We will also work on conversions and real-world problems and models.
