Here's What's Happening...
ELA: This week we will continue generating ideas for our personal narratives by digging into where our small moments in life have happened. We have been doing a great job of coming up with small moments that have truly impacted our lives, I'm excited to see how our narratives turn out!! This week we will also have a shared read aloud of the book Teammates. Teammates is a book about the struggles Jackie Robinson had to endure during his time joining the Dodgers. After reading this book, we will compare and contrast what Jackie Robinson had to go through to the Mother in the poem we read last week, "Mother to Son". We will also work in stations focusing on our R.A.C.E strategy to help us pull evidence from a text to support our answers, commas in direct address and tag, commas in introductory words and phrases, the theme of a text, and also working on Word Work List 2. We will have the Word Work assessment on Wednesday.Social Science: Our Elements project due date has been pushed to Wednesday, October 4. Students have been getting extremely creative with their elements and posters, the presentations will be wonderful! After presenting, we will move into Chapter 14, Lesson 3, Chemical Changes.
Ms. Gari's Math: Monday, we will finish our Unit 6 test and go straight into Unit 1 with our pre-test. As students finish up the Unit 1 pretest, we will preview the vocabulary for Unit 1, Module 1 vocabulary. Later this week, we will introduce a very interesting (and kind of gross) Calendar Collection, trust me, students will love this one! We will also cover Student Book pages, Work Places, and computer games surrounding the topics of multiples, products, and factors. I suggest students start practicing their multiplication math facts at home! :)
Important Info...
Spread the Kindness!I wanted to take a moment to remind parents and students of our school wide goal of spreading kindness. It's not too late to spread random acts of kindness with our PV Kid with a Cape!! Once you have taken a picture of your child participating in a random act of kindness, you may print it out and send it in to school, or you can send me the pictures and I will print them out! :)
