Here's What's Happening...

ELA: This week we will start working on a new text called, "A Boy Called Slow". In stations, we will practice analyzing the story structure of multiple texts, as well as identifying the theme of a text. We will continue our work on Word Work List 3 and continue writing workshop with a focus on telling the story from the inside out. 

Social Science: We are almost at the finish line of our first chapter of science! On Monday, we will review Chapter 14 Lesson 3. On Tuesday, we will start a Chapter 14 study guide, finish it for homework, and review the answers on Wednesday. We will take our Chapter 14 test on Thursday! and Start a new unit in Social Studies the following Monday!

Ms. Gari's Math Class: This week in math, we will look over our checkpoints and review more topics related to multiples, factors, and products. We will also be going over more strategies for multiplication and division in Problem Strings and station work.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to those who have already signed up for Parent Teacher Conferences!  If you haven't yet done so, you will be receiving a reminder e-mail from me this week.  Please be sure to sign up for a spot!

Halloween Festivities

Our Halloween Festivities will be taking place on Tuesday, October 31st. Students should come to school in regular clothes on this day but should bring their costume in a bag.  They will enjoy the classroom Halloween party from 1-1:45 that day.  Then, they will have an opportunity to change into their costume for the Halloween parade, which kicks off around 1:55.  Students will NOT be allowed to go to the bathroom to change - they will go to separate classrooms for the boys & girls to change.  There is not much time, so if their costume requires makeup, it will have to be kept to a minimum.  Please remember that costumes should be school appropriate, and cannot include any type of a "weapon."  Thanks so much for helping us make this a fun day together!
